1. Drag And Drop Method
Splitting windows screen by this method is done by dragging and dropping screens on left/right side of the display. And this method can be used in all the versions of Windows 7/8/10 to split multiple screens. You just need to follow these steps to do so. To demonstrate the steps, we will have pictures on one window and Gmail conversation in another window.
Open both the applications you want to work on at once on your PC. So that it will be shown at the bottom taskbar of Windows.
Next, click on the navigation bar on one of the applications & drag it to the right end of the screen and release it. This will make it cover half of the Window screen.
Now open another app from the bottom dock of opened apps. Click on the application to open it.
Next, you have to follow the same procedure. Here we are using a browser as another window. Again tap & hold the navigation bar of the window & drag it to the left end of the screen. This will cover another portion of the screen.

2. Shortcut Method
This method is much faster than the Drag and drop method which we’ve already discussed. And while being faster, this method is also really easy to split screen on Windows. Just follow the steps explained below.
For Windows 7
- Open the two windows on which you want to work on simultaneously.
- Now go to any one of the open window and press Windows+Left key while you’re on that window. By doing that, the respective window will cover half the screen and will be shifted to the left side of the screen. (You can also shift it to the right side of the screen by pressing the right arrow with windows key)
- Afterward, go to the other window, and while on that window screen, press Windows+Right key. Now, this window will be shifted to the right side of the screen covering another half of the display. (Note: You can also include the third or even fourth window by resizing the open windows and making space for all of them.)
For Windows 8/10
To split the screen on Windows 8/10, you first have to enable the multitasking feature on your PC if it isn’t already enabled. To do that go to Start > Settings > System > Multitasking.
- Firstly, open multiple windows on your PC.
- Now, go to any one of the window and press Windows+Left/Right key on your keyboard. The window will shift to the respective side and will reduce in size to make space for another window.
- As soon as you perform the second step, you’ll see a list of all the open windows on the other side of the screen. Just click on any window on which you want to work on. And now the selected window will be on the remaining portion of the screen.
Split Screen Between Two Documents In MS Word
Now, this is something that can be really important at times, looking at two MS Word documents side by side. And this can easily be done by following all the methods discussed in this article. You just need to know how to open multiple MS Word documents.
